baltfood business - Focus on companies
baltfood business brings together activities geared to the food industry in the participating regions. There are two main subject areas: "Identifying trends and making the most of them" and "Entering new markets". People talk a lot about trends, and write about them even more, but few can really discern what is on the horizon. For this reason, the baltfood project is bringing together experts from companies and universities in order to identify relevant trends for the Baltic region. As a part of this the experts are developing the Food Trend Radar, a computer-based tool that allows companies to identify future trends at an early stage.
Companies will have an opportunity to submit their specific requirements during the development phase, and they are encouraged to do so. The aim is to deal more efficiently with the flood of information on trends in the food industry. Another area of focus in the baltfood business work package is the development of new markets. But rather than treading the beaten path on this subject, the project will focus on markets with a development potential in the medium and long term. The St. Petersburg region, Belarus and Ukraine are examples. With their special knowledge and many years of experience, baltfood partners from countries that have recently joined the EU will be able to provide special help here. The work will include studies on specific target markets along with act-finding trips to these markets. Planning for these activities will take specific company requirements into account. In addition to Trends and Entering new markets, there are a number of acitivities for business. These are described under baltfood science.
